Sonia Kashuk Art Of Makeup 10 Piece Brush Set Review + Photos

Before I get to my review I have a confession…

I am a makeup brush hoarder!

I probably have more brushes in my collection than I’d care to admit, but trust me, it’s a lot. I have always loved the quality of a particular brand of makeup brushes; Sonia Kashuk. Not only does this brand rival high end makeup brushes, but they also release many brush sets that are a fraction of the cost of one high end makeup brush! If you’ve been lucky enough to get your hands on any of these limited edition sets from Sonia Kashuk, you know what I’m talking about!

I recently tore apart a few Target stores in my area in search of the newest limited edition set by Sonia Kashuk, the “Art Of Makeup” set. Continue reading

A couple of months ago I purchased the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in shade Light 4 Deauville. Before we dive into this review, let’s talk about the product claims. Shall we? Continue reading

First off, how the hell are ya guys?! I know it’s been the better part of a century since I’ve posted! Okay so it hasn’t quite been that long, but I could feel that little blogger in me screaming “Post something, ANYTHING!” So here I am alive and mostly kickin’! I guess I should update everyone on my whereabouts and what the hell I’ve been doing with myself.

L’ORÉAL Evercreme Cleansing Conditioner Review

Since I’ve been on hiatus I came across some uh-mazing products and this one definitely falls under the category and then some!

image

L’ORÉAL Evercreme Cleansing Conditioner skips the step of shampoo by giving you a low lather conditioner that cleanses without stripping your hair, and moisturizes like a deep conditioner. Let me just say, I’ve purchased so many shampoo and conditioners from drugstore brands to high end salon brands and have always had the same results; frizzy, dry hair. The only way I walked out of the shower with soft and manageable hair was if I used a ridiculous amount of conditioner, and even then my hair still had the consistency of straw.

When I came across this product the cynic in me rolled her eyes, but being a glutton for punishment (of my wallet hehe) I decided to give it a try. Hallelujah! The savior to my hair had arrived! Not only was my hair super soft, it only cost me $6! I can shelve all my failed purchases thanks to this miracle in a bottle :)

Although this product has saved my hair, there were a couple of drawbacks (nothing to keep me from purchasing this in the future). My one gripe is…the pump. I will admit you really don’t need a lot of product to get a your hair saturated, but you do have to work that pump just to get a decent amount out. Maybe a traditional pop open top would be better for this bottle.

Here’s the rundown…

Product

10/10 This product literally saved my hair! Not only that, I skipped a step in the shower so I’m saving time as well :). This conditioner also has a very strong vanilla-y fragrance that I love and lingers till the next wash.

Packaging

7.5/10 The pump sucks! I’ll still be stocking up on this stuff but I will be optimistic and hope they get rid of this pump :). It takes atleast ten pumps just to get a quarter size amount!

Price

10/10 At $6 a bottle you can’t beat the price! Considering the hundreds, maybe even thousands spent on shampoos and conditioners that just end up getting tossed I am very very very pleased with the price :).

Like I said I love this one step hair system! It has made my hectic schedule just a little less hectic, and has completely saved my hair. If you have the same issue with your hair as me (long, fine, frizzy, straight hair) give this a whirl :).

LUSH Skin Regimen Review

image

I’ve searched high and low for years looking for the best skin care products for my very difficult and complex skin. I have very dry combination skin that has been treated by everything (Proactiv, SkinID, Murad, drugstore brands, etc.) with no improvement :(. I decided to try my luck with LUSH and I can’t believe how much better my skin is! I wasn’t planning a review this soon, but after a week of these products my skin has showed more improvement than the years of trial and error with the other brands.

LUSH Ocean Salt Face Scrub

image

9.5/10– This life changing product isn’t just a scrub, it also doubles as my cleanser. Ocean Salt contains antibacterial lime and vodka to cleanse skin without using harsh synthetic chemicals, and with extra virgin coconut oil and avocado butter it hydrates my very dry areas. Plus, with fine and coarse sea salt added it gives an invigorating scrub that leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth :).

My only gripe is the price, for $19.95 you get the 4.2 ounce (small) pot, or for $34.95 you get 8.8 ounce (large) pot. This scrub is so wonderful though the price will not keep me from purchasing it again. Plus, a little scrub goes a very long way! I use a nickel sized amount and that’s enough for my face and neck.

LUSH BB Seaweed Fresh Mask

image

10/10– Normally masks dry my skin out leaving my face tight, or has very temporary benefits. BB Seaweed is so gentle I use it every morning! With finely ground almonds this mask works as a gentle scrub, and contains extra virgin olive oil for supple, soft skin. After using this mask for a week all my dry patches were gone, and my skin tone was more even. Did I mention it left my skin baby soft? Love this mask!

LUSH Breath Of Fresh Air Toner

image

9/10– This toner has been quite the miracle worker. Breath Of Fresh Air Toner contains seaweed extract, rose absolute, and aloe vera to repair damaged skin and balance skin tone. I got a mild sunburn on my face over the weekend, and this toner has been quite soothing! I love that its alcohol-free so it doesn’t dry out my skin it just hydrates and prepares me for…

LUSH Vanishing Cream

image

10/10– Oh my god this is the Holy Grail of moisturizers! I am always hesitant of facial moisturizers because they’re either too greasy (yuck!), or don’t do shit. I apply Vanishing Cream immediately after my toner and automatically my skin feels phenomenal. This moisturizer contains witch hazel which shrinks my pores (I’ve got some seriously large pores) almost to the point of invisibility and helps get rid of any blemishes. With added grape seed oil it leaves my skin so smooth and soft I literally have to refrain from touching my face.

Even though this moisturizer is priced at $39.95 for a 1.5 ounce pot I will most definitely be purchasing this again! On the plus side, a small dip on the end of your finger is enough to moisturize your entire face and neck so this pot will last for months.

I recommend these products for anyone with very dry combination or oily/combination skin.

The Makeup Nerd’s Verdict

My Shade (N3 Natural Buff)

I really like this foundation! It’s my first L’ORÉAL foundation purchase ever so I’m highly impressed by how much it reminds me of higher end brands.

Product

9/10
This foundation gave me a subtle but very nice glow with a dewy finish without adding any unnecessary glitter or shimmer, making this a great choice for everyday wear. Added with a broad spectrum SPF 20 this is also great for daytime wear to any celebration, get together, or cookout. My only gripe is unless you use a finishing powder after this it will not last all day.

Package

10/10
The bottle itself is made of glass making it very high quality. I love that it has a sturdy plastic pump (great for all my fellow germaphobes!) so I don’t feel gross every time I use it and it delivers enough product each time :).

Availability

10/10
This is where this drugstore foundation really takes the cake! It’s available in 15 shades ranging from neutrals to warms to cools.

Price

7.5/10
I shouldn’t care for the cost of this wonderful product! However, for a drugstore brand it is a bit pricey in my opinion at $12.99 a bottle. The plus side though, you really don’t need a lot of product to get great coverage.

Overall I’d probably buy this foundation again…with a coupon lol.

Have you tried this foundation, if so what was your opinion of it? Leave a comment!

Endless Sea Vs. Tenacious Teal

image

I was requested to review  L’Oreal’s Infinite Eyeshadow in Endless Sea and Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Tenacious Teal after my post 24 Hours Of Colorful Madness cause they appeared to be quite similar, but these eyeshadows are anything but.

Swatches

image

Top (without flash), Bottom (with flash)

In the pots these eyeshadows look almost identical, but once swatched they are very different shades. Endless Sea has a lot more turquoise and gold shimmer whereas Tenacious Teal is more of a true blue with equal amount of blue and silver shimmer.

Payoff

I applied both without any primer or base)

This version of 24 hour eyeshadow is where, in my opinion, blows Maybelline’s version out of the water. This eyeshadow is a wet powder that with your finger or brush applies effortlessly and did not budge during the entire time I had it on, even without a primer :).

Maybelline Color Tattoo

Without a primer this eyeshadow barely lasted. I only kept it on after five hours cause it started creasing pretty bad :(. This is a cream eyeshadow so it was more difficult to apply for me and needed to be built up a lot with my brush to get even coverage. I would probably only ever use this color as an eyeliner.
