Sephora VIB Rouge Haul & Quick Update

Happy Hump Day nerds and nerdettes! I am enjoying this lovely Spring (finally!) weather here in Maryland with my fur nephews Squirt and Salt. It’s been a while since my last post and quite a few things have changed. I am no longer working at Columbia Academy, after working as a preschool teacher for three years I decided it was time to go back to school to finish getting my degree. Unfortunately, my employer and I were not able to come up with a reasonable schedule so I could attend school and work, so I had to do what was best for myself and my future.

I absolutely miss my students and the lovely ladies I have formed a very strong bond with, but I know this is what’s best for me and my fiance. Speaking of the fiance, he recently went back to school to obtain his certificate in his current field so I am super excited that both of us will be back in school!

Now, onto the goodies I have hauled! Continue reading

Tis the Season…For Holiday Beauty!

I know, I know! It’s only September, but with the holidays creeping up I can’t help but feel nostalgic for the upcoming cold weather, family gatherings, lots of wine and baking with my mother and sister! With the holiday season approaching, you know what that means! Lots of limited edition holiday sets from drugstore and high end brands. Continue reading

A Tour of My Vanity

It’s a hot and sunny Sunday here in Maryland! The fiance and I are half way through our awesome three day weekend of gaming, relaxing and for me, blogging! As I had mentioned in my previous post, I turned our spare bedroom into what my fiance has dubbed “The Fortress of Makeuptude” (Superman reference for any confused readers). I had waited for the day to have my own space where I could have room to store all my awesome makeup and not have it overcrowd our bedroom, so when I say I was super duper excited, it is an understatement!

I’ve had my beauty space now for about a few months and I loooooooove it! I still need a few more home decor pieces but I like the way my vanity has turned out. I wanted to share with you guys my “workspace”, beware though! This post will be picture heavy to say the least!

Houston We Have Lift Off!

If you’ve been living under a rock lately then you probably haven’t heard anything about the new MAC Heavenly Creature Collection that’s been all over the beauty blogs lately, but if you’ve heard then you know this collection is quite…perplexing? Yes, that’s the word I’m going to use :). This collection features 5 Lipsticks, 5 Cremesheen Glass, 9 Mineralize Eye Shadows, 4 Mineralize Skinfinishes, and 4 Mineralize Blushes that quite frankly are very similar to Hard Candy Baked Blushes.

I haven’t been too wowed with the numerous collections MAC has been putting out lately, but when I was able to preview this one you could have colored me curious, mainly I was drawn to the Mineralize Eye Shadows.

Described as “Baked minerals refined into a powder formula provide exceptionally sheer and lightweight application. Colour builds lightly, layer after layer, without heavy coverage.” These Mineralize Eye Shadows are available in nine out-of-this-world (gotta love the word play haha) shades for $20.

Aurora- a peachy, green and brown melange.

Bright Moon-a grey, silver and icy green melange

Earthly- a beige, peach and cool brown melange

Invincible Light- an icy white, lavender and gold melange

Magnetic Attraction- an orange, pink and gold melange

Neo Nebula- a creamy, warm amethyst and warm pink melange

Sky-a green gold, turquoise and cobalt melange

Universal Appeal- a gold, bronze, and violet melange

Water- a yellow, lime green and blue melange

Now I certainly didn’t purchase all of these cause I’m certainly not made of money haha but I did get the ones that caught my eye the most which were Sky, Water, and Bright Moon which is still breaking the bank a bit but my wallet and my shopping addiction can’t seem to ever be in sync (go figure?), luckily if you use the code SPARKS by July 1st you get free shipping so I saved a few buckaroos :).

This collection is only available online until July 5th when it hits the stores….so hurry!

Have you tried this collection yet? What was your thoughts on it? I’d love to hear! Leave a comment!

Happy 4th Of July Weekend Nerds!

Holy Guacamole!

That is the perfect way to describe the look on my face when I opened my package from Cherry Culture and saw my NYX Make-Up Artist Kit. First of all let me just say today was the best day for this package to arrive, I’ve had a very crappy day and this was the best way to put a smile on my face! So anywho, I picked up the box and this palette has to way at least 3 lbs. alone so i figured what was inside would be huge, and boy was I right.

35 shadows total.

This picture doesn’t do much justice for the actual size so I’ll just tell you each individual shadow is the size of a friggin’ quarter! If your thinking big whoop?! Let me just say eye shadows in the majority of palettes are the size of dimes (a nickle if you’re lucky!) so to say this thing is big would be quite the understatement. This palette has two levels, the eyeshadows on one, and bronzers/blushes/lip glosses on the other.

3 Bronzers, 5 Blushes, 5 Lip Glosses

These bronzers and blushes are quite large. Needless to say this palette will be keeping me quite busy for a while, the amount of possibilities with this palette is a bit overwhelming (in a good way) and exciting. It almost makes the Urban Decay Book Of Shadows IV order pointless since this will be occupying my time lol. Maybe that will be my next giveaway item? Who knows :)

Oh! I almost forgot the rest of my package, I also got two NYX nail polishes and my free Cherry Culture lip balm in Peach which smells divine.

Lavender & Hot Pink

Happy Hump Day!

Too Faced The Essentials Review

Before I go into detail about this kit I have to say…I lah-ooooove this kit! I am officially hooked on Too Faced cosmetics! I’ve used their Shadow Insurance before and I liked it but that’s about all my past experience with this brand. ULTA had this essentials kit for $39 so I figured what a perfect way to try more of Too Faced’s products.

The kit comes with the following items:

Sample size Shadow Insurance

Deluxe size Glamour Gloss in Pillow Talk

Exclusive Bronzer/Blush Duo in Chocolate Soleil & Pinch My Petals

Size Queen Mascara (black)

Eye Shadow Quad

Clockwise: Satin Sheets, Ever After, Birthday Suit and Exclusive Lavender.

I love all the products in this but my numero uno is the Glamour Gloss. It says it’s a lip plumping with a cool sensation lipgloss, personally I could care less about if it makes my lips appear plumped cause I have full lips already. The cooling sensation was lovely (the boyfriend didn’t like it too much when I kissed him with it on though lol) and I did notice my upper lip was maybe a tiny bit fuller. The color is very natural but does have a little sparkle to it but not noticeably sparkley. Coming from a woman who hated lipgloss for years this stuff is amazing!

I used the step-by-step look the box provided to test out all the products and here was the final look…

I have to say at first I did not like the mascara, the wand and the application was odd but I am finding myself loving this mascara! No clumping, no flaking, no itchy eyes!

The colors in the shadow quad are all colors I wear on a normal basis and the pigments are really nice and the color lasted all day! They’re super soft and velvety and do not chalk. Below are the swatches for the quad.

I wasn’t overly impressed with the bronzer/blush duo, the colors were nice when swatched not too dark of a bronzer and the blush was a cute peachy pink shade with some shimmer to it. When I applied the bronzer however it was much darker on my face and had to be lightened a lot. The blush looked great and gave me a nice flush of color.

The stats:

Shadow Insurance

7/10 I wish it was a larger size, the sample is enough for a couple of uses but once, you take the foil off its hard to get it to stick back on.

Glamour Gloss

9.5/10 I love this gloss! The color is very natural on my lips and the cooling sensation feels great. The gloss lasts a while but once it wears off a little you can feel the gritty texture of the glitter. I really love this gloss and would recommend this to anyone else who doesn’t like sticky glosses. Make sure your significant other doesn’t mind the cooling sensation like mine did lol.

Bronzer/Blush Duo

8/10 I really like the blush and it flatters my skin nicely, but the bronzer I could have done without. It is way darker than it appears so apply very lightly. I have plenty of cute blushes and more flattering bronzers so I wouldn’t buy this again.

Size Queen Mascara

10/10 I wasn’t a fan at first of this mascara but I love it now! The wand doesn’t bother my eyes and no flakes! The wand is weird but in a good way now that I know its meant to give volume and length, and trust me it does! I would definitely buy this again.

Eyeshadow Quad

9/10 I like the colors they’re very pretty and super soft once applied. With the right eye shadow primer these shadows will stay put for quite a while. My only gripe is the container, its very difficult to open and I messed up my cute manicure trying to open it.

Overall I give this kit a 9/10. I would recommend this kit and would purchase most of the products in this kit again.

Have you tried any of the products in this kit? Which one was your favorite? Let me know by leaving a comment below!

Happy Friday!

Golden Eye

Today is my golden eye post and I don’t mean James Bond :). I purchased NYX Glitter Mania Loose Pigment in Hot Gold. I couldn’t wait for my next night out to try it so I did it today on my day off. I also paired it with a bright coral lip to really make it pop. Let me know what you think!

What I used:

Skin79 VIP Gold Super B.B. Cream
Skin79 Luminous Pearl B.B. Cream as a highlighter
Maybelline Fit me! foundation #225

Eco Tools powder brush
Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Pressed Powder
